Helping Students Further Their Education

2026 Character Scholarships

Since 2004, the Frenship Foundation for Leadership has proudly awarded Frenship High School and Reese Education Center students with Character Scholarships totaling more than $1 million. Through these scholarships, the Frenship Foundation recognizes students who exemplify exceptional character, leadership, and service to others.

In the spring of 2004, the Frenship Foundation organized an annual golf tournament—The Drive for Leaders—as a major fundraiser for the student scholarship program. Each year, the Character Scholarship recipients are recognized in front of donors at the annual golf tournament.

  3. Leadership and Character Short Essays
  4. FHS Teacher Evaluation Form (Must be a current FHS instructional staff member such as teacher or coach)
  5. Outside Recommendation Form (Cannot be a current FHS employee or family member)
  6. GPA

How to Submit:

  • IMPORTANT – During the application process, students must fill out the two recommendation tasks and provide email addresses for their recommenders. Once the recommender has completed the Recommendation Form, you will receive an email notification saying the recommendation has been completed. PLEASE NOTE: After the recommendation has been submitted, you must still click the green “Mark as Complete” button in that section or you will not be able to submit the final application.
  • SUBMIT BUTTON – Once all six sections have successfully been “Marked as Complete”, all tasks should have a green circle with a check mark. You must still hit the final “Submit” button for it to be officially submitted.

Scoring:

The Frenship Foundation Student Scholarship Committee will score all eligible applications in late March. All student names are redacted and replaced with a Personal ID Number prior to being scored by the judges.

Scholarship recipients will be notified in April 2026 and given further instructions regarding next steps. Scholarships will be distributed upon proof of enrollment in a trade school or higher education institution within two years of graduation from FHS. Funds are distributed directly to the institution.
